Castillo de la Coracera - San Juan and Picadas Reservoirs - Sierra Oeste - Wineries and wines
A true oenological lung located in the Sierra Oeste de Madrid. The wines of San Martín de Valdeiglesias have their own sub-denomination within the D.O. of Wines of Madrid, due to the great quality of its wines made from garnacha (red) and albillo real (white) grape vines. If you are a wine tourism enthusiast, you must come here and also enjoy its landscape and heritage. From the Torre del Homenaje (keep) of the historic castle of La Coracera you can look out over the peaks of the Sierra de Gredos and the blankets of forest that cover the Sierra Oeste de Madrid. But there's more: the reservoirs of San Juan and Las Picadas are our own private seas to enjoy on summer days. Especially at the beginning of September, when the patron saint's fiestas are celebrated with a great bullfighting tradition of bullfights and calf fighting.
