A fairytale castle
Castle - Church of Our Lady of Las Nievas - La Pedriza - Santillana Reservoir
The castle of Manzanares el Real reminds us of the enchanted princess tales of our childhood. It is the best-preserved castle in our region, and has been completely converted into a museum. To visit it is to take a journey into the world of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Manzanares el Real also has forests, a reservoir and a "magical" mountain: La Pedriza.
It forms part of the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park, one of the natural jewels of our Community. The river flows through here freely and with crystal-clear waters before entering our capital. As in many places in Spain, the real fiestas of Manzanares take place in August, where there is merriment and above all good food. The classic "caldereta de cabrito" (kid stew), meats, roasts and stews are the star dishes that can be tasted in the local restaurants, dishes that will delight the most exquisite palates.
