The young dressmaker Sira Quiroga leaves behind Madrid in the months leading to the beginning of the civil war, swept away by unbridled love for a man she barely knows. Together they settle in Tangier, a worldly, exotic, and vibrant city where the unthinkable can come true, including betrayal and abandonment.
Alone and driven by others' debts, Sira moves to Tetuan, the capital of the Spanish Protectorate in Morocco. With immoral schemes and aided by friends of dubious reputation, she forges a new identity and manages to start an exclusive atelier where she caters to clients from remote origins and questionable backgrounds.
From then on, with the Spanish Civil War just ended and the European war about to begin, the protagonist's fate becomes intertwined with a handful of historical figures.
