“SOMEHOW I SEEMS TO FILL MY HEAD WITH IDEAS, BUT I DON’T KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE!”
Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, written in 1865, is a cultural phenomenon. Translated into more than 170 languages, it remains in print and is part of the collective imagination. Its influence spans generations, artists, and disciplines: fashion, theater, film, photography, and science.
The exhibition offers different answers to why a Victorian character is so significant, the culture that fostered its writing, and how the themes and ideas it raises remain relevant. The exhibition incorporates a playful dimension and a space for reflection, facilitating a dialogue between Alice's world and our own. A tour divided into five sections—The Invention of Alice, Through the Screen, Alice, Door to Other Worlds, Alice on Stage, and Becoming Alice—follows our heroine's journey.
