The great exhibition that closes the centenary of the Valencian painter
From October 2024 to February 2025
The Royal Collections Gallery will host the exhibition “Sorolla, One Hundred Years of Modernity” from 17 October 2024 to 16 February 2025. Organised by National Heritage and Light Art Exhibitions , in collaboration with the Museo Sorolla and the Museo Sorolla Foundation, this exhibition brings together 77 iconic paintings by Joaquín Sorolla, reflecting all the phases of his career. Many are among the most important and of the highest quality, and some have rarely been seen before in our country. The works come from prestigious collections, such as the Museo Sorolla, the Museo del Prado or the Musée d'Orsay.
The exhibition is curated by Blanca Pons Sorolla, Sorolla's great-granddaughter and a leading expert on his work, together with Consuelo Luca de Tena, former director of the Sorolla Museum, and Enrique Varela Agüí, current director of the Sorolla Museum. The exhibition addresses the relevance of Sorolla and the modernity of his painting, which, one hundred years after the artist's death, remains relevant.
