Wine and relaxation
Nuestra Señora de la Asunción Church - Wine Cellars - Wine Museum
We are in the heart of Madrid's wine-growing region. A landscape of hills and hillocks covered with vineyards, bathed by the rivers Guadarrama and Alberche. Its Plaza de Segovia is another of those places in Madrid that you don't expect, because it is old and peaceful, and because it is ideal for enjoying the good wine of Navalcarnero, D.O. de Madrid. Wine is so important here that it even has its own museum, Jazz festival and wine tasting route. This is where Felipe IV married Dª Mariana of Austria and to commemorate this illustrious event the Royal Market of the Golden Age is held, coinciding with the patron saint's festivities at the end of August. A perfect occasion to taste dishes such as "olla del segador", a variant of the famous cocido madrileño stew, together with a glass of good wine. Its caves, typical houses, medieval streets, squares, trompe l'oeil buildings and natural surroundings are a paradise of rest and relaxation.
