The National Archaeological Museum presents 'CONVIVIUM: Archeology of the Mediterranean diet', a temporary exhibition that analyzes the meaning of this practice that is Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and that brings together a set of knowledge and traditions related to the generation, conservation, transformation and ways of consuming and sharing these foods.
The exhibition understands the act of eating together as the foundation of the cultural identity of Mediterranean communities. The visitor will have the opportunity to learn about the way in which the Mediterranean diet has been constructed throughout history, with special emphasis on its cultural and sociological aspect, addressing in the story the latest developments in archaeological research on the subject.
The exhibition is structured around six areas (from the aperitif to the after-dinner meal) in a thematic story that includes archaeological, artistic and ethnographic objects, as well as graphic and audiovisual resources.
